The New Face of Sneaker Connect: Trading

Sneaker Connect is morphing from an app that was about having a virtual collection of sneakers to a sneaker trading app. We noticed that there was a lot of demand for a sneaker app. In fact, our earlier version of Sneaker Connect was getting a lot of downloads. Although many people were downloading Sneaker Connect, when we looked deep into the metrics we noticed something that wasn’t good. We found that our retention was very low. In fact, the average user never opened the app again three days after downloading it. So we had to figure out why our retention was low and how we could improve it.

To understand why our retention is low and to come up with a solution, we must first understand why and how other apps have high retention. Let’s look at an app like Instagram for example. We all know Instagram has high retention. In fact many users log on to Instagram many times a day. Why is that? Well, Instagram has high retention because it is solving a real problem for its users—it allows its users to instantly share and view photos of the things they care about. It’s the same with other apps that have high retention—they solve a real problem that their users have.

Therefore, we realized, if we want to improve the retention of Sneaker Connect, we must build an app that solves a real problem for our users. So we then started to think about some problems that exists in the sneakerhead community that we can possibly solve. This is when we realized that one problem that exists and has not been solved by anyone is online sneaker trading. Trading sneakers online has always been unsafe and no one has figured out a solution for it.

So we decided to turn Sneaker Connect into a sneaker trading app. We’ve been working on coming up with a solution to the sneaker trading problem and building an app to facilitate safe trading. We hope to make an app that solves a real problem for the sneakerhead community. Stay tuned for more updates on this topic and the new Sneaker Connect!
